Wireless High Speed Internet
Tired of slow dial-up speeds? With Eastern Oregon Telecom’s Wireless Internet you can receive high speed Internet service at locations that are out of reach of DSL or other comparable services. Our Wireless Internet doesn't use the phone line, so you can still make and receive calls while online.
How it works
Your high speed EOT Wireless Internet connection comes from various towers located in your area. From this tower a radio frequency (RF) signal travels to your location and is received via a subscriber unit (SU). From this SU, via Ethernet cabling, your high speed wireless internet connection is delivered to your computer or LAN in your home or business.
Security
Using access control techniques, your data communication from the tower to your SU is very secure. Layer 2 of the network protocol (MAC) and layer 3 of the network protocol (IP), are used to obtain this highly secure connection method. Packets of data (web pages, E-mail, etc.) sent between the tower and your subscriber unit, travel only to the specifically destined SU. With other wireless technologies all packets of data are sent to all devices on the wireless network.
